Dubrovnik’s beauty makes it renowned as the Pearl of the Adriatic. With its 16th century, medieval Old Town and massive stone walls nestled elegantly by the sea, it is the most recognised and talked about city of Croatia around the world.

Its sublime nature draws millions of visitors each year and the hit American HBO television series, Game of Thrones, filmed in Dubrovnik, has drawn new crowds as well, keen to step foot on Kings Landing themselves.

So it’s fitting that I tell you more about this spectacular city, but from a different perspective. From a special place where you can get a ‘birds-eye’ view of the Old Town and its surroundings, a place that allows you to really see the beauty of Dubrovnik from above.

Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, that very special place I’m talking about is…..

Mount Srd and Panorama Restaurant, Dubrovnik, Croatia

See the beauty of Dubrovnik from above on Mount Srd

What I saw in front of me was really the beauty of Dubrovnik from above. One of the best views I have ever seen in Croatia.Never been so high I must admit

I took some happy snaps from the cable car station observation deck and then made my way to one of the best restaurants – with a view –  in Dubrovnik, the Panorama Restaurant. As its name states, the restaurant offers a panoramic view of the most talked about Croatian tourist attraction, Dubrovnik Old Town and the spectacular sapphire coloured sea that surrounds it.

The view stretches out to Cavtat (to the left), the island Lokrum and the magical Elafiti Islands (to the right). It is quite literally jaw-dropping and the altitude certainly increased my appetite.

I was craving something sweet, so I ordered a Dubrovacka rozata, Dubrovnik’s version of a Crème Caramel. The picture below speaks for itself.

Salivating yet? As I was engulfing this delightful dessert, I reminisced about the wonderful time I had studying at RIT Croatia in Dubrovnik.

Although born and raised in Australia, at 19 years of age, I moved to Croatia to live and study. I can honestly say, it was one of the best decisions of my life.

RIT Croatia, formerly known as the American College of Management and Technology, was founded in 1997 as a subsidiary of one of the most prominent US private universities: Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) located in Rochester, New York. Today, RIT Croatia has campuses in two locations, Dubrovnik and Zagreb.

To cut a long story short, if you are looking for a unique, accredited, international educational institution to study at, or are interested in studying abroad in a country that holds classes in English and allows you to wake up to beautiful scenes like this every day, I highly recommend RIT Croatia. I will talk about this university more in upcoming blogs.

Back to that ‘million-dollar view’ and restaurant (the dessert was delicious by the way!). At Panorama Restaurant you can enjoy a coffee or drink or watch the sunset with glass of wine in hand.

It’s also worth considering the restaurant’s Mediterranean menu, for breakfast, lunch or dinner, reasonably priced considering the jaw-dropping location. There are sandwiches (steak, club, ham-and-cheese), burgers, homemade icecreams and desserts as well.

To reserve the best seat on the mountain top for lunch or dinner at sunset, call Panorama Restaurant on +385 20 312 664 or email sales@nautikarestaurants.com

So what are you waiting for, book your next trip to Croatia and go and see the beauty of Dubrovnik from above for yourself!

When you enter the Old Town head to the northern side of old town, to Buža Street. This will lead you to the exit of the city walls, look for the fire station, walk to the right and before you know it, you be enjoying a magical cable car ride and be on your way to the top of Mount Srd and Panorama Restaurant.
